Christmas in July is a popular excuse to party in the middle of the year, particularly in the southern hemisphere where the seasons are the other way around. In countries like Australia and New Zealand, Christmas is sunny and warm so it’s not wonder they want to experience a winter wonderland style Christmas when the weather is cooler.
However, you don’t need to be living down under to celebrate two Christmases — so we’ve compiled a few Christmas in July party ideas for you, no matter where you are in the world! If you have any more ideas, please share in the comments 🙂
Christmas in July BBQ
While it’s too cold to have a BBQ in the winter for most of us, there’s no excuse not to cook up a delicious Christmas dinner on the BBQ in July! Invite your friends, exchange gifts and enjoy some tasty turkey and Christmas pudding cooked over the BBQ. Yum!
Ugly Christmas T-Shirt Costume Party
Why should ugly Christmas sweaters only come out once a year?! Dig up your sweater creation from six months prior, or have fun creating an awesome new one 🙂 If the weather is a bit too warm for sweaters — why not make it an ugly Christmas t-shirt competition?! So much fun to be had!
Christmas Volleyball Championship
Volleyball (or any sport!) is the ultimate summer activity, so why not add a Christmas twist to it?! Have everyone dress up in Christmas outfits and let the games begin.
Water Balloon Snowballs
Snow might not be falling, but that doesn’t mean you can’t pretend. Fill up lots of white water balloons and have a good old-fashioned snowball fight 🙂 It’s not only fun, but you’ll stay cool, too!
Frozen Hot Chocolate
There’s nothing better than a cup of hot cocoa at Christmas. Ahhh. It might be too warm for it in July, so add a summery twist and freeze cocoa into popsicles or crush it up to make hot chocolate slushies!
There are so many ways to celebrate Christmas in July — and while it may just be an excuse to keep the festive spirit alive all year round, we’re perfectly fine with that 😉
